Zerocircle is an Indian materials science company that develops seaweed-based, microplastic-free, and home-compostable packaging alternatives to petrochemical plastics. Founded in 2020 by Neha Jain and Varun Jain, the company is headquartered in Mumbai, India.
Its core technology involves transforming seaweed biomass into natural polymers that function as grease-resistant coatings and films. These materials are designed to integrate into existing manufacturing machinery without requiring process changes. Key products include coated food trays, snack containers, clamshells, and grease-resistant paperboards.
The company is active and scaling, with over 1.6 million plastic units replaced across India, the Netherlands, and the Benelux region. It holds a patent portfolio for its formulations and is the only Asian materials company certified as 100% plastic-free under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive. Major partners include Swiggy, Zomato, Schmancy, and Eco-Dispo.
Zerocircle is privately held and backed by investors including 3one4 Capital, Rainmatter Capital, 1Crowd, LNB Group, 7th Gen, and VC Grid. As of early 2026, the company continues to expand its manufacturing and market presence in Europe, the UK, Oceania, and India.
