MGI Tech Co., Ltd. (MGI) is a publicly traded biotechnology company headquartered in Shenzhen, China, that develops and manufactures core tools for life sciences, including DNA sequencing instruments, laboratory automation, and multi-omics platforms. Founded in 2016, the company is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (ticker: 688114).
MGI’s core technology includes its proprietary DNBSEQ sequencing and CycloneSEQ nanopore sequencing. Its product portfolio spans short-read and long-read sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and automated lab systems. As of mid-2026, the company employs over 2,200 people and serves more than 3,500 users across six continents.
In 2025 and 2026, MGI expanded its “SEQ ALL” strategy, integrating generative AI into its workflows, such as the AI-powered G400RS FluoXpert Vision and E25 Flash sequencer. The company remains active, recently acquiring entities like STOmics and Huada Xufeng to bolster its integrated multi-omics ecosystem. MGI is led by CEO Jian Liu and Chairman Jian Wang, with major ownership held by Jian Wang.
