Piet Herdewijn's group published structural work on a Thermococcus kodakarensis DNA polymerase (KOD-H4) engineered for HNA (hexose nucleic acid) reverse transcription, providing the first structural insight into how a DNA polymerase processes a xeno-nucleic acid backbone.
