JALA (jala.tech) is a female-led Indonesian end-to-end, data-driven shrimp aquaculture platform that digitizes pond operations, uses IoT water-quality monitoring and analytics to improve productivity and traceability, and integrates climate-smart shrimp farming with mangrove rehabilitation to support blue-carbon/financing models. Core products/tech include the JALA App (cultivation management and analytics), JALA Baruni (multiparameter water monitoring device syncing to the app), JALA Farm (pond-operation program with funding/access/assistance), and JALA Harvest (market access and fast payments). It was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Yogyakarta (Depok/Sleman, with a business office in Surabaya). Funding: Series A $13.1M led by Intudo Ventures (with SMDV/Sinar Mas Digital Ventures; participation from Mirova and Meloy Fund/Deliberate Capital). CI Ventures invested $500k for a Climate Smart Shrimp pilot (with $200k loan for monitoring tools/platform and $300k for the CSS pilot). Scale (reported): 10,000+ registered farms; 18,500 app users; 27,000+ pond cycles; also “over 20,000 users” and monitoring “more than 35,300 ponds,” with “300,000 plates” served daily on-site.
