Shandong Denghai Seeds Co., Ltd. (SZ 002041) is an elite Chinese agricultural technology company specializing in the breeding, production, and sale of hybrid corn seeds, alongside wheat, rice, and vegetable seeds. Founded in December 2000 and headquartered in Laizhou, Shandong, the company is a pioneer in the “breed-multiply-promote” integrated model. It is controlled by the Laizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, with founder Li Denghai—known as the “father of China’s compact hybrid corn”—serving as the actual controller.
The company operates as a publicly traded entity on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. As of mid-2026, it remains active, focusing on high-yield compact corn varieties and expanding its portfolio into genetically modified (GM) corn. Despite facing industry-wide challenges like high inventory and market volatility, the company continues to invest in R&D and infrastructure, including new breeding centers and subsidiaries.
